Arriving at Hastings for the Morning Walk

  • By Train: Hastings Station is well-served by trains from London, Brighton, and Ashford. The start point for the hike is a short walk from the station.

  • By Car: Parking at Tibbs Farm is recommended. Take the morning shuttle bus to Hastings to start the hike.

Arriving at Charles Palmer Vineyard

  • Shuttle Bus: There is a one-way shuttle bus from Tibbs Farm to the Vineyard, so you can join the group and walk the final 6km. Booking required!

  • Charles Palmer Vineyard is accessible by car and offers limited parking. Please plan accordingly. Alternatively, Winchelsea train station is a 45 minute walk.

  • By Train: Nearest station is Rye where you can easily get a taxi to Tibbs Farm

FAQs

  • The Wild Stride is a unique music festival that combines a scenic group hike with live music performances. Attendees can choose to walk part or all of the route before enjoying an evening of live music at Tibbs Farm.

  • The festival takes place on Saturday, July 11th at Tibbs Farm near Rye in East Sussex. The hike starts in Hastings at 10am and includes a stop at Charles Palmer Vineyard in Winchelsea, for an acoustic set before ending at the festival site.

  • Not necessarily! While the scenic hike to the site is a fun part of the experience, there will also be direct access and parking for those who prefer to drive or need accessible entry.

  • The group hike departs from Hastings at 10:00am, please arrive in good time.

  • There is a stop at Charles Palmer Vineyard in Winchelsea from 1:00pm - 2:45pm, where an acoustic set will be performed. Those not doing the full hike are welcome to join here.

  • The full hike is a fun but challenging 19km, hilly and requires a very good level of fitness. While we will start as a group, everyone will walk at their own pace.

  • Yes! You can meet the group at Charles Palmer Vineyard and walk the final 6km to Tibbs Farm or head straight to the festival. The vineyard is a 45 minute walk from Winchelsea train station or a bus service is available from Tibbs Farm - booking essential!

  • Certain stages and the walk starting in Hastings are for over 18s only. Under 18s may participate from the vineyard section and do the 6km walk, provided they are capable or can be carried by an adult. The Wild Stride is primarily an outdoor hiking and music festival and is not specifically designed for children. There are no dedicated children’s activities or facilities, and parents or guardians remain fully responsible for supervision at all times. Due to uneven terrain, working farmland, amplified music, and licensed bars, parental discretion is strongly advised. Camping is for over 18s only.

  • No, pets are not allowed at the festival or on the hike.

  • If you find the hike too difficult, you can pause at Charles Palmer Vineyard or arrange your own transport to Tibbs Farm. Please be aware, this is a rural setting with limited transport options.

  • The hike will start as a group, but attendees will walk at their own pace. There will be festival volunteers walking along the route for assistance. A route map will be provided in advance.

  • There are no water stations, so please bring your own reusable water bottle. Water will be available at Charles Palmer Vineyard and at the festival site.

  • Yes, parking is available at Tibbs Farm from 7:30am to 845am on the morning of the festival for those using the AM shuttle. Parking must be booked in advance.

  • A shuttle bus will leave Tibbs Farm at 8:45am to take hikers to the starting point in Hastings, arriving at 9:30am. This must be booked in advance and spaces are limited.

  • Live music will take place from approximately 4:00pm - 10:00pm at Tibbs Farm.

  • Yes, there is camping available at the festival site. This must be booked in advance.

  • Yes, camping is not included in your ticket but you will be able to select this option when booking your ticket if you plan to stay overnight.

  • No, but there will be toilets and washing facilities available.

  • Wear comfortable walking shoes, bring water, sunscreen, and weather-appropriate clothing.

  • Outside food and alcohol are not allowed inside the festival site, but there will be local food vendors and a bar available, please support them.

  • Yes, food and drink vendors will be available at the festival site, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.

  • Unfortunately, due to the hilly terrain and natural trails, the hike is not suitable for wheelchairs. However, attendees can travel directly to the festival site.

  • Campervans pitches are available to book in advance. Caravans are not allowed.

  • The festival will go ahead rain or shine, so please dress accordingly!
